Music is the aroma that allows one to hear silence and the glue that holds the event together.  Umbrella Ship Entertainment can choose the right musical act for your special event by asking the important questions.  What is the desired vibe and theme of your event and how far do you want to stray from popularity.

Sometimes you just want your guests to dance and feel comfortable so we of course would go with a DJ or musical act that plays popular songs that are either contemporary or from a specific era that the event is geared towards.   If you have a themed event we want to compliment the mood with not only popular songs from that region or culture, but also sprinkle in some songs that are intriguing to the listener and respectful to the genre.

A musicologist must be able to gage the environment of the room and decide when and where the energy needs to go, because a great musician listens as much as they play.  Allow Umbrella Ship Entertainment to provide you with a musical act that has the experience and expertise to provide the vibe you are looking for at your special event.

Shovelman is a junkyard beatnik, a shovel guitar wielding surrealist folk superhero. An enigmatic iconoclast, his music will lure you into another place and time. Drawing psychedelic rock melodies out of a barn shovel turned slide guitar, Shovelman manipulates cutting edge looping FX to craft broken orchestral experiences, retelling tall-tails and immortal hotel room hymns. The sounds of Mississippi delta blues from the electro-psychedelic future, collide with the antiquated rubble of lyrical one-man-band hoboetry. Shovelman’s industrial barnyard blues has been likened to the music of Tom Waits, Morphine and The Black Keys. Shovelman has become infamous on the west coast festival circuit, sharing stages with acts such as Primus, Beats Antique, Jason Webley, Jolie Holland, Kaki King and Reggie Watts. He has also performed alongside the west coasts most prominent bohemian circus troupes, including Lucent Dossier, The Vau De Vire Society and The Wanderlust Circus.

“Shovelman has forged a perfect merger of the past and the present with his bluesy ‘folktronic’ sound.” – LA Weekly

“Super Tall Paul is more than just a wedding entertainer, he is literally sunshine in a plaid suit! We could not have dreamed of having anyone else play those sweet melodies as we professed our love in front of all of our friends and family.  He is a master at his craft, and well, he loves love! The way Super Tall Paul captivates his audience is something out of a fairytale. One could even say that he is the Pied Piper of memorable experiences; our guests are STILL raving about him!”
